What we do
Little Fishes Pre-school serves the local community providing early years care for children from two and a half to five years. We provide high quality care, made possible by a well-trained and highly motivated and dedicated team. The children are offered a challenging and rewarding curriculum in an environment with a strong Christian ethos.

List of activities
Little Fishes Pre-School follows the Foundation Stage Curriculum covering the Early Learning Goals which are:
• Personal, Social and Emotional Development
• Communications, Language and Literacy
• Mathematical Development
• Physical Development
• Creative Development
• Knowledge and Understanding of the World Development

Each day we provide activities to support children’s learning across these goals and these activities are influenced by our monthly topic. Our monthly topics have been:
• Animals (including a Noah’s Ark activity)
• Under the Sea (including the story and an activity of Jonah and the Whale)
• Prehistoric Times
• Favourite Characters
• Cultures

Trips Out
We enjoy regular trips and our outings have included a train ride to Old Leigh to collect shells, a visit to the Butterfly Farm, Southend Library and Museum, Southend Airport following a topic on transport and to the Sea Life Adventure for our ‘under the sea’ topic.

We also provide healthy, nutritious snacks mid-morning in an atmosphere of social interaction between the children’s peers and adults. We begin by singing our prayer and discussions ensue ranging from what the children had for breakfast to our objects on the letter of the week and colour of the week trays.

Little Fishes also have special events and recently celebrated the Queen’s 80th Birthday with a party which included Punch and Judy Show, Bouncy Castle, Face Painting, Biscuit Decorating and Crown making.

Other
The pre-school committee run an Alpha Course for staff and parents which gives people the opportunity to gain an understanding of the Christian faith.
