In April 2008
Extreme: Hope
hit Shoeburyness.

Extreme grew to be more awesome than we ever imagined; this year we ran two venues so that over 300 young people could come and serve their community.

The week was packed full of all the usual laughter, games, songs, talks and video clips that make extreme fantastic - but what makes extreme life-changing is the community work that we got involved in.

We continued to serve our
local community by:

Painting the picnic benches, re-decorating a classroom and painting the school fences at Richmond Primary School
Re-painting 3 local Playparks
Cleaning Graffiti with Southend Council each day over two sites
Car Valeting for free
• Transforming 5 local Gardens
• Clearing out the school pond at Thorpedene Junior School
• Painting all the railings at Friars School
• Garden Clearing
• Running a free Kidz Klub (and pamper café) at Thorpedene Junior School
• Making up and delivering loads of Flower Boxes to elderly or sick neighbours
• Delivering 3,000 energy saving lightbulbs to local households
• Bag Packing, flower give-aways and Street Theatre at Asda
• Clearing a large alley way
• Donating and delivering 100 bouquets to local households
• Litter picking
From this..... to this!
And also – extreme went global this year as the teams collected, sorted & loaded 2 trucks of donations for Romania and Uganda.
As usual we treated the young people to evening sessions of chilling out, pampering, bands, Playstation3 and on the final night a HERO FINALE where we all dressed as our own Heroes and partied all night!
The song of the week was ‘Going Your Way’ and as on the last night we sang and danced and rocked out – I knew that many of these young people are serious about doing life God’s Way –

and there is nothing more exciting than
seeing young people ‘get’ what
doing life God’s way is all about.

God doesn’t just
give us life,
he gives it in abundance!
Wow fantastic,
job done!
Extreme started
3 years ago in August 2005 after a group of young passionate Christians returned
from Soul in the City, London with a heart
for their own
local community
